Dr. Alex Munroe grew up in the land of the New England Patriots, the state where the locals cringe when you call the city "Wor-chester" and as a kid drank from a "bubblah" when he was thirsty. He served a brief sentence for Biology at Franklin Pierce University before moving to Maine in 2002, where he worked as a technician in emergency medicine, day practice and specialty care alike. It was during this time that he got the itch to work with all things feathered, scaled and tiny. He had the privilege of attending veterinary school at the Atlantic Veterinary College and living life amoungst our frozen, friendly socialists neighbors to the north in Prince Edward Island. Even though he left in 2008 he looks for pretty much any excuse to motor back up to see his Canadian compadres, typically on his favorite mode of transportation, his motorcycle! When he's not helping all creatures great, small and smaller here at Forest Ave, he's usually chasing is his son around on his homestead up in Auburn, or chasing his goats around because they've escaped the barn for the 9 millionth time. He suffers from a constant "random mental jukebox," and is usually best found in the hospital by listening for whistling, singing or humming. So if you need to book an appointment for a unique critter (sorry no hedgehogs), you can call the front desk, or walk into the Freeport Quick Care on Tuesdays and keep your ear out!
Dr. Leah Goodman is from Bangor, Maine. She graduated Tufts University, then Cornell School of Veterinary Medicine. She lives in South Portland with her family, two cats and a dog.
Sonia Gagne Practice Manager: Hello I’m Sonia, the Practice Manager at Forest Avenue and the proud mother of my beautiful daughter. I have worked in many areas of the veterinary field in the past twenty years, and love the excitement of Forest Avenue, where in a single day we can see cats, dogs, birds, pocket pets, turtles, snakes, and more. At home we have a fish named Happy Blue, but since there are no furry pets allowed, I can frequently be found visiting Chompsky Macgruber and Mr. Velvet Ears at the clinic. When not at work I enjoy riding bicycles (traditional as well as the custom rat rod motorized bike my fiancée built for me), attending local roller derby matches, bird watching, or getting ice cream at Libbys as long as the season allows (they open in March and yes we still had to wait in line!!)
Danielle Doucette Head Technican: Hi! My names Danielle, but everyone here calls me Yellie. I am the Head Vet Tech at FAVH. I have been in the veterinary field for about 5 years now with hopes to one day be a Veterinarian myself! I have big dreams and big goals. My passion for this world is what makes my job so meaningful. I couldn’t imagine my days without an animal to take care of. My hobbies include playing basketball, running, roller blading, kayaking, anything outdoorsy, and I also coach varsity softball in my spare time. I am a huge hockey fan (Go Bruins) and basketball fan. I have my own mini zoo at home which includes; my handsome bunny Denis Hopper, my two kitties Bruin and Louie, and my loving dog Zoey Bananas! I dedicate myself to helping animals and making this world a better place, one day at a time.
Kathy Chadbourne Hi, I’m Kathy! I have spent many years at Forest Avenue. I enjoy greeting our clients and patients. It is important to me for all to feel welcome. When not at reception, I can be found behind the scenes sharing various administrator tasks. I have a few four legged babies at home…. Harry is my small but feisty Pomeranian. Pip is my old man, he is a 10 ½ year old rabbit who loves hanging out with us. Sheldon is my social turtle, who is always looking for attention. We also share the home with my husband and son. When not working or taking care of my wild bunch, I love to spend time in my garden, going for a swim, and enjoying time with my family.
I’m Celine! I’m a big nerd and am only a little bit obsessed with my dog and space (both outer and personal). I love video games, The Office, and I would eat mac and cheese for every meal if I could. Foxy is my best friend, she’s a 12 year old, toothless pomeranian. She’s a grumpy old lady just like me (I swear I’m 75 at heart). At home, I have Foxy and a few other misfits including a hognose snake named Pascal, and a tuxedo cat named Quill. My biggest guilty pleasures are mashed potatoes with gravy, and old 1940’s music. I like to be colorful, so I have 13 tattoos and counting, and my hair color changes on a monthly basis. If you have any suggestions let me know.
Hi, I'm Sarah Turtle. I have two dogs, both named Guinness, which is purely coincidental of course. When not working at Forest Avenue Veterinary Hospital I write novels, play board games, and enjoys video games.
Well, hello there, my name is Caleb Streaadwick and I am both a receptionist/assistant veterinary technician at the Forest Avenue Veterinary Hospital! First fun fact, I am not a native Mainer, I was born and raised in the mountains of Montana! Second fun fact, I am also seen at two of our Quick Care facilities both in South Portland and Freeport, so you’ll see a lot of me! I never expected to participate in the whole “working with animals all day” thing and I couldn’t be more stoked to be able to call this my job! Unlike a lot of my other amazing staff members, my studies reside elsewhere at the University of Southern Maine in both Theater and Dance! Not exactly where you’d expect the performer to be...right? I guess you could say, I’m an animal lover/helper by day and performer by night! Besides that, I find enjoyment in singing Disney soundtracks, watching (a lot) of Youtube, reading, coloring, word searching, crossword puzzling; as well as annoying my two miniature dachshunds, Maddie and Doc! Give us a ring, I may just pick up!
Hi, I’m Maddy! I’m a receptionist at FAVH, as well as our Freeport and South Portland Quick Care locations- but am in the process of Vet-Assistant training. When I’m not at work I spend most of my time four-wheeling, jeeping or getting work done for my side business! (which is also jeep related... can you tell I like jeeps?) My boyfriend and I have 2 cats at home, Gracie and Daisy. I’ve had cats my entire life and absolutely could not imagine life without one. Or any pet for that matter! Before applying to work at FAVH, I volunteered at the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. Because who wouldn’t wanna spend their spare time playing with puppies and kittens?? Animals have always had a special place in my heart, and I’m so glad to work in the field I always dreamed of!
